BRINK OF NUCLEAR WAR
The Cold War is political hostility between countries fought by threats, propaganda, and other methods not involving open warfare. In this case, it was a state of hostility between NATO and Warsaw Pact from 19445-1980. The Warsaw Pact was seen as a threat, Communist dominance, and an opponent to American capitalism. NATO created and launched operations on kitty cats, they were surgically implanted with bugging deices used to eavesdrop on Soviet conversations because the CIA figured who would suspect a cat of wearing a wire but because the car was run over the mission failed. The U.S. created the first H-bomb in 1950, then the U.S.S.R., and then China had the H-bomb inn 1967. This bomb was 2500x stronger than atomic bombs used on Hiroshima.

POST WAR & the American Dream
The United States became consumed by the Cold War and the threat of communism at home and abroad. The GI Bill enabled more Americans to buy homes and obtain a college education. More Americans worked in white collared jobs outnumbering blue collar being competitive with products and prices. Franchise grew in the number, offering Americans a familiar product in various locations. People started to desire to own the same products as their neighbors. People started to move into the neighborhoods outside the cities. When WWII ends marriages occur at a younger age, more children are born faster and there are fewer divorces. Technological breakthroughs started. The Beat Generation reveals that the time period was tough for many because they did not get the freedom they wanted. The whole reason of this movement was for the people in the bands to express their feelings, some thought the Beats were a bad influence on teens because drug use was involved.
